Terahertz imaging of cancerous tissues

A team of researchers from the WUT and Centre for Physical Sciences and Technology (FTMC) based in Vilnius, headed by Agnieszka Siemion, PhD from the Faculty of Physics at the Warsaw University of Technology, is working on the use of terahertz radiation in imaging phantoms of healthy and cancerous tissues. The research is implemented as part of FOTECH-1 research grant competition.

Antihydrogen Experiment: Gravity, Interferometry, Spectroscopy

The AEgIS experiment (Antihydrogen Experiment: Gravity, Interferometry, Spectroscopy) aims to measure the gravitational fall of an antihydrogen pulsed beam. At the end of October WUT Rector signed the Memorandum of Understanding with CERN allowing WUT to become a full member of the AEgIS Collaboration. The project is supported by Priority Research High Energy Physics and Experimental Techniques (PR HEP).

PhotonHub Europe, a new pan-European hub for digital innovations in the field of photonics, with the Warsaw University of Technology as one of its partners, has received EUR 19 million in funding under the EU Horizon 2020 program. The hub will support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The ENHANCE consortium, of which the Warsaw University of Technology is a member, is one of the beneficiaries of the “European Universities” contest organized by the European Commission. Over the next three years, the consortium is going to receive EUR 5m for development of the cooperation.

A formal session of the Warsaw University of Technology Senate was held on February 10, 2020, to mark the award of the status of a research university in the competition “Excellence Initiative – Research University”. “For the Warsaw University of Technology, this means prestige and distinction as well as a substantial financial support to drive the proposed reforms,” said Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin.
