First ‘Grant for a Prototype’ awarded
The Centre for Innovation of the Warsaw University of Technology has announced the results of the first ‘Grant for a Prototype’ competition implemented by the Warsaw University of Technology from IDUB funds. Funding was awarded to 10 teams.
‘Grant for a Prototype’ is a funding pathway for technology development for the University’s teams that have been shortlisted for the incubation programme. Each team can apply for PLN 150,000.
The 10 selected teams presented their objectives for the next seven months when they will work on their solutions from the technological point of view, the successful completion of which will determine the settlement of the grant. Team leaders were personally congratulated by Professor Adam Woźniak, Vice-Rector for Development at WUT.
‘I am glad that teams can benefit from the ‘Grant for a Prototype’ funding provided by IDUB for the first time in the incubation programme. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the first ten awarded funds for technology development. And I very much hope that we will soon be talking about them as the University’s spin-offs,’ says Professor Adam Woźniak, Vice-Rector for Development at WUT.
To apply for a grant for a prototype, you need to be qualified for the incubation stage of the WUT accelerator programme run by the Centre for Innovation. It is preceded by a pre-incubation that lasts about 1.5 months.
The accelerator programme aims to set up spin-off companies that will be able to compete in their fields in a demanding market or to develop the technology to a level where it can be licensed or sold for the benefit of the creators and the university.

List of teams and technologies supported:
- Sense of soil: wireless sensors for soil moisture, salinity, and temperature. Ultimately, they will optimise water use on farms and agricultural businesses.
- Lift: navigation technology intended for people with special needs. It will make public institutions and transport more accessible.
- BereSolutions: bicycle with crane drive.
- Mobilight: a measurement system that analyses and optimises the intensity of street lighting. In the future, this will help to identify underexposed and overexposed areas.
- MicroGrow: a tool that facilitates replication of human organs under laboratory conditions. This accelerates the verification of drug effectiveness.
- Empathetic Virtual Assistant (eIVA): A smart virtual assistant that adapts its behaviour to the user's mood, creating a more empathetic relationship.
- MedWave: a system using AI to support doctors by automatisaton of note taking for medical appointments.
- Evision: technology for the non-invasive conversion of internal combustion engines to hybrids.
- VereePW: an interactive rehabilitation tool for stroke patients.
- MultiSpectrAI: a device to identify the classification and detection of pathogens in hens' eggs.
