EDMS (EZD) from the technical side
Published: 02/07/2021
We are at the final stage of the testing system implementation, and we are preparing formal and legal regulations. (...) At the same time, we are designing the processes on which four project teams are working. This is a huge amount of work, a huge milestone. No one has ever dealt with that so methodically before - says Gabriel Matus, Head of the EDMS project.
EDMS (EZD) in the public procurement processes - the interview with Agnieszka Gawrońska-Chrobak

Electronic document management at WUT – an interview with Dr Katarzyna Modrzejewska
Published: 26/04/2021
“The completion is planned for 2025. In the next few years, subsequent processes will be implemented into the electronic document management system (EDMS) in individual stages. The implementation will be gradual, and the first stage will be completed in autumn 2021 in the new academic year,” says Dr Katarzyna Modrzejewska from a management team of the IDUB (“Excellence Initiative – Research University” project) project and the Steering Committee for EDMS. How is the work on the implementation progressing and what does it involve? Read the interview to find out.
In search of new methods of creating composites
Published: 26/04/2021
One of the biggest defects of silicon carbide, which is a high-toughness material utilised in the machine tool industry, among other things, is its low fracture toughness. Most frequently, composites with silicon carbide matrix are produced to solve this problem. Unfortunately, most materials utilised as strengthening (composites) and increasing fracture toughness simultaneously negatively affect other properties of silicon carbide, including its toughness and maximum temperature of material work. The work on finding an ideal solution to this problem is continuing.
Researchers at WUT are working on an innovative filter material
Published: 22/04/2021
The current crisis related to the COVID-19 pandemic brought the researchers’ attention to the need of creating hybrid fibre filters, which can be utilised in air-conditioning or ventilating systems in buildings, in particular in hospitals and other health centres. At the moment, a research team at WUT is working on this kind of solution. The project implementation is funded by the research grant Technologie Materiałowe-1.

How can boron compounds help to disinfect surfaces?
Published: 09/03/2021
The interaction of light and matter is one of the most fascinating processes occurring in nature. Chemistry and physics of photoactive compounds are the fields in which these phenomena are particularly interesting. A team of scientists at the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology is working on a new concept of designing effective photosensitisers whose main role is to produce reactive oxygen forms to be eventually used in the process of water purification and in medicine.
The NA61/SHINE experiment – the success of Polish scientists in an international project
Published: 09/03/2021
The physics of heavy ion collisions is a field that aims at learning about the character of the strong force. Since it is impossible to isolate a single colour particle, describing a phase diagram of strong interactions of matter has become a priority. A single experimental measurement is not sufficient to define such a structure. Hence, it is necessary to conduct various analyses in many fields in which each field provides a part of the answer. WUT researchers are making a great contribution to the conducted research.

Designing a nanovaccine based on recombinant proteins of SARS-CoV-2 virus covalently bonded on nanoparticles
Published: 08/02/2021
A team of WUT researchers at the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering and Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies, and a team of immunologists are jointly working on devising a nanovaccine based on recombinant proteins of SARS-CoV-2 virus covalently bonded with biodegradable nanoparticles of iron oxide. The research is implemented as part of the competition for research grants IDUB against COVID-19.
From a research grant to a patent: a multithreaded controller for energy conversion systems in electromobility
Published: 05/02/2021
The construction of control systems in power electronic transformation systems employs two control methods utilising a cascade control scheme with feedback from individual object outputs and controllers with feedback from the vector of variables of an object state. And what if these two concepts are merged? Researchers at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology have undertaken this task.
Research on heavy ion collisions – a step towards understanding the evolution of the early universe
Published: 22/01/2021
As part of the implementation of a research grant awarded in FWEiTE-1 competition, a team from the Faculty of Physics at the Warsaw University of Technology has undertaken research on the geometry and dynamics of heavy ion collisions utilising the correlation femtoscopy method, in close cooperation with scientists all over the world within STAR (RHIC), HADES (SIS-18) and CBM (SIS-100) experiments. In their work, researchers place special emphasis on the analysis of a phase diagram of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) in an area which still remains unexplored, i.e. heavy ion collisions, in so far untested range of collision energies amounting to a few or a few dozen giga electron volts (GeV).
